Mercer University has partnered with the Midtown
Medical Center of Columbus Regional Health and St. Francis Hospital to
establish a clinical campus in Columbus, Georgia. Columbus is Georgia's second
largest city and is located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River in
west-central Georgia. Beginning in 2012, third and fourth year medical students
have trained with the area's finest physicians through a partnership that
integrates the strengths of all three institutions. The expansion of Mercer
University School of Medicine to Columbus has been made possible by the hard
work of many people, including the leadership of the Midtown Medical Center and
St. Francis Hospital, Pete Robinson, State Rep. Richard Smith, former dean of
Mercer School of Medicine Dr William Bina, Mercer trustees Jimmy Elder and Tom
Black, and a number of other local business and community leaders including the
Chamber of Commerce. |
